Geology
Geology is the study of the earth. It helps us identify and prepare for natural hazards such as earthquakes, coastal erosion, flooding and landslides.
Geologists work in a variety of job settings. You could teach or work in government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and even environmental consulting companies. Most geoscientists split their time between working indoors in offices and laboratories and working outdoors. Doing research and investigations outdoors is commonly called fieldwork and can involve travel to remote locations. No matter your goals, at FRCC, our small classes and dedicated faculty will guide and support your education.

Geology is the study of the Earth, its rocks and the ways that they change over time. The study of geology is important for mineral and fossil fuel exploration, managing water resources and solving environmental problems. You'll explore the movement of the Earth's crust, the history of life on Earth and past climates.

Paid Internship Opportunity
Geo-Launchpad is a paid summer internship open to all Colorado community college students to develop research skills for a career in science, engineering or technology. This 11-week program takes place at UNAVCO in Boulder, Colorado, from mid-May to early August.
